Where Southern Cross the Dog includes a CD with material, some unheard until now, recorded in the 1930s and '40s. The compilation includes blues, prison work songs, children's rhymes, and oral history narrations.
Allen is donating a portion of the book's proceeds to the Blues Foundation and the Music Maker Relief Foundation. The Blues Foundation is a nonprofit that preserves blues history, celebrates blues excellence, supports blues education, and ensures the future of this uniquely American art form. Music Maker helps the true pioneers and forgotten heroes of Southern music gain recognition and meet their day-to-day needs.

The Grammy® Award winning Pinetop Perkins and blues harmonica master Willie "Big Eyes" Smith have released yet another masterpiece album: Joined At The Hip. Born in Belzoni, Mississippi in 1913, Pinetop is one of the last of the "original" Mississippi Delta bluesmen. He's been playing blues for eighty years! The album is definitive classic Chicago Blues with a bit of a delta twinge, full of both original songs and blues staples. It was just released on Telarc Records this month!

Otis Taylor's distinct, trancelike, ecclectic roots sound comes full force on Colvis People. His skillful, artistic style is truly unique, and his lyrics span from deep and sad to upbeat and hilarious. Blues rocker Gary Moore fills in the tracks with skillfully placed licks while Otis brings in a mix of pedal steel and even coronet to create an excellent ambience for the album.
