On Thanksgiving Day at the Winterland Ballroom in 1976, The Band held one of the most legendary live music performances of the 20th century, called The Last Waltz. Guests lined up for the two-day affair, including, among many others, Ron Wood, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, Neil Young, Dr John, Van Morrison, The Staples Singers, and Paul Butterfield. Martin Scorsese filmed it -- for free.
