Short-sighted record execs rejected releasing Tom Petty’s debut solo album “Full Moon Fever” for inexplicable reasons. So he waited until new executives were hired and resubmitted the album. It went to #3 on the chart, eventually going 5x platinum.

The success of Ike Turner’s “Rocket 88”, recorded at Sam Phillips’ Memphis Recording Service, gave Philips the ability to open Sun Records in 1952.
