About 38 Special

The band was formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1974 with Donnie Van Zant, Don Barnes, Jeff Carlisi, Ken Lyons, Jack Grondin, and Steve Brookins. While the band relentlessly toured, bringing their brand of Southern Rock across the country for several years, their breakout smash hit “Hold On Loosely” came out on their 1981 album “wild-Eyed Southern Boys” in 1981, followed by 1982’s “Special Forces”, with the number one hit “Caught Up in You”. 38 Special elevated to arena rock stats, selling over 20 million records in a massively successful classic rock career.
