Blue Öyster Cult had to ban people from bringing cowbells to their concerts after the wildly famous “Needs More Cowbell” Saturday Night Live sketch that poked fun at the band’s song “Don’t Fear The Reaper”.

Jason Momoas’ 2018 Saturday Night Live appearance featured a skit centering around making Parliament’s song “Aqua Boogie” from 1978’s “Motor Booty Affair” into the “Aquaman” theme song.

While filming Animal House, John Belushi saw bluesman Curtis Salgado and fell in love with the blues. Meanwhile Dan Aykroyd, while working on SNL, rented an underground blues bar close to the studio to play music with the cast & crew after-hours. Soon enough, the duo made their bluesy black suit-and tie debut on Saturday Night Live, performing Slim Harpo’s “I’m A King Bee” in 1976. The rest was Blues Brothers history.

Johnny Cash, hosting Saturday Night Live in April 1982, dressed up as Elton John, who was the musical guest, who in turn dressed up as Johnny Cash.
