With the addition of Jazz drummer David Getz, and the traditional bluesy vocals of a young Janis Joplin, Big Brother's acidic psychedelic rock n roll struck a chord with the world -- beginning with a still-legendary performance at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival, continued by the wildly popular 1968 album Cheap Thrills.
