This landmark album features five of the greatest Jazz music innovators of their time, at the pinnacles of their respective careers, playing together like never before or since.

Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Mingus, Max Roach and Bud Powell formed a quintet for a single performance on May 15th, 1953 at Massey Hall in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Having later been aptly billed as "the greatest jazz concert ever", it would have been a sell-out performance remembered by all -- if there hadn't been a major boxing fight that night.

The turnout was so low that the local jazz society couldn't even pay the musicians' fees. But in time, the recordings from that session have become some of the most revered -- the album being presented a Grammy Hall of Fame award in 1995.
