The smash hit glam-rock concept album Ziggy Stardust was released on June 16th, 1972 following his now-famous American tour in 1971. Bowie toured behind the album for most of 1972, with the final tour date at Hammersmith Odeon being filed by D.A. Pennebaker and turned into a 1983 movie, Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture
