This design features a real label from an authentic Black Swan vinyl record, of Ethel Waters' romping, popular 1921 song "Down Home Blues".

Black Swan Records was nothing if not true to its name. Established in 1921 by Harry Pace, Black Swan was the first major African American-owned record label. Lasting only three short years, Black Swan Records' reign was short -- but oh so sweet. Notable for promoting influential artists like Ethel Waters, the label played a crucial role in shaping the early landscape of Black music... despite its brief existence.
