Also known as the "Blues Highway," 61 stretches from New Orleans, Louisiana, to the small town of Wyoming, Minnesota. Just like the Mississippi River it runs along, 61 snakes lazily from Minnesota, through Beale Street in Memphis and the Mississippi Delta, down to the French Quarter in New Orleans -- a trip of over 1,400 miles!

Highway 61 served as the cultural artery of America, inspiring countless musicians and travelers, and enflaming the spirit of American blues and folklore. Musicians like Sunnyland Slim, Mississippi Fred McDowell and Bob Dylan wrote about 61's charms, and faustian legend has it that Robert Johnson sold his soul at the crossroads of Highway 61 and 49, just outside of Clarksdale, Mississippi.
