One single day, Tuesday, September 24th, 1991 saw the release of Nirvanna’s “Nevermind”, A Tribe Called Quest’s “Low End Theory”, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Blood Sugar Sex Magik”, Van Morrison’s “Hymns to the Silence”, Primal Scream’s “Screamadelica”, Bryan Adams’ “Waking Up the Neighbours”, The Cult’s “Ceremony”, and The Pixies “Trompe Le Monde”.

Nestled on historic Route 66, The Coral Court Motel was a St. Louis legend; a neon-lit hideaway mixing mid-century modern style with roadside mystery. The Coral featured hotel rooms with individual garages, and a hidden swimming pool -- perfect for those who needed the most discretion. The legend of the Coral only grew after infamous kidnapper/murderer was arrested at the hotel, and then the cops who arrested him were themselves jailed after a couple hundred thousand dollars of the ransom money disappeared. The Coral Court's distinctive art deco curves and pink-and-black style made it unforgettable for travelers and locals alike. Today, the building is gone but the allure of the gritty yesteryear roadside icon continues to spark imaginations.
