Elvis Presley’s first recording was made in 1953 when he walked into Sun Records at age 18, and paid $4 to “record a song for his mom’s birthday” (who didn’t own a record player). He played “My Happiness”, and then left the only copy at a friends house, who kept it until it was auctioned in 2015 for $300,000.

The sixth studio album by English artist David Bowie, Aladdin Sane was released in the UK on April 19th, 1973 on RCA Records.

It was his much-anticipated follow-up to The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, it was the first album he wrote and released from a position of stardom.

This iconic cover was shot by Brian Duffy, with bowie looking otherworldly -- a lightning bolt across his face, and a mysterious metallic pool dripping from his clavicle.
