“it hit me that [Blind Willie] McTell and most of the great country bluesmen were recording and performing in the early-’20s, which was the same time period as when the De Stijl art movement was taking root. They were both doing the same things: breaking things down to their essences. In my mind, both the country blues and the De Stijl movement represented a new beginning of music and art, perhaps for the rest of eternity.” – Jack White on naming the 2000 White Stripes album De Stijl

This real concert tank advertises The Wolf as a Mississippi Blues Singer, and lists his songs "Spoonful" and "Evil" at Club Paradise, Memphis. Tickets for the concert were just $3.50.

Club Paradise closed in 1999, but for decades, it was the premiere blues club, so of course it was located in Memphis, Tennessee.

"At that time if you played the Paradise, that was the ultimate in Memphis for the black blues club," said singer Bobby Rush. "When you made the Paradise, it was like Carnegie Hall. You had to work your way up to get to the Paradise, but when you got to the Paradise, you thought you made it."
