“At one point I saw Coltrane break out a bagpipe (another demon in the forest) and blow into it, but damned if I heard a note of what he played.” – A.B. Spellman, 1965 Downbeat Magazine review of a NYC Village Gate concert

This plucky little New York City record label popped up in 1916, selling 78 rpm records aimed at giving listeners better value for their buck, hence the slogan "Gold in quality, Silver in price".
