WELCOME TO THE NEW BLUESCENTRIC WEBSITE!

Dolly Parton wrote “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You” on the same day.

Memphis-based Meteor Records rocked and rolled onto the scene in 1952 with an Elmore James recording. Looking to get Southern Blues and R&B into the hands of young listeners, the Meteor label found great talent in the area -- but failed to produce any big hits.

Little Milton Campbell recorded for Meteor. So did Rufus Thomas, who just five years later would earn great fame at Stax Records, which opened across town the year after Meteor Records closed. Lewie Steinberg played on Rufus' Meteor Records tracks, and went on to be the founding bassist of Booker T and the MGs.

The Meteor Records Hoodie is printed on quality Hanes 90% cotton, 10% poly high-density cotton jersey-lined pullover with dye-matched drawstring. Light Steel is 85% cotton. Sizes run true.
