Pigmeat Markham, a Black comedian and vaudeville star who performed in blackface, recorded the 1968 single “Here Comes the Judge,” which is often cited as the earliest hip-hop record.

The Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad, known as the MKT or “Katy,” was a major Midwestern rail line that helped move freight, passengers, and culture across the region for nearly a century. Eventually, the railroad was turned into hundreds of miles of walking trails, started by a program in Columbia, Missouri. This design nods to that history, celebrating the bold signage and industrial spirit of a railroad that helped shape towns, trade, and travel throughout America's heartland.
