The 1967 Monterey International Pop Music Festival represented an explosion of the music and hippie culture. It was the first American performance for Jimi Hendrix, The Who and Ravi Shankar. Performances by Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, The Grateful Dead, The Butterfield Blues Band, Booker T and the MGs, and many others helped make Monterey Pop a legend.
