While filming Animal House, John Belushi saw bluesman Curtis Salgado and fell in love with the blues. Meanwhile Dan Aykroyd, while working on SNL, rented an underground blues bar close to the studio to play music with the cast & crew after-hours. Soon enough, the duo made their bluesy black suit-and tie debut on Saturday Night Live, performing Slim Harpo’s “I’m A King Bee” in 1976. The rest was Blues Brothers history.

Growing up in the 1950 Chicago South Side, Paul Butterfield cut his teeth at a young age playing blues harmonica with the greats like Muddy Waters.

With Butterfield's harp prowess and scorching vocals, he enlisted guitarists Mike Bloomfield & a young Elvin Bishop, Mark Naftalin on organ, and hiring away Howlin' Wolf's rhythm section, Jerome Arnold and Sam Lay, to record their eponymous first album The Paul Butterfield Blues Band.

The album is a raw, brazen & powerful mix of electric Chicago style blues & rock & roll. Tracks included rocking originals and high-energy covers of Little Walter, Muddy Waters, Elmore James, Willie Dixon and others.
