“[Big Mama Thornton] was a wonderful blues singer, with a great moaning style. But it was as much her appearance, as her blues style that influenced the writing of ‘Hound Dog’ and the idea that we wanted her to growl it.” – Mike Stoller, on writing Hound Dog Taylor for Big Mama Thornton

"Any fool knows a dog needs a home, a shelter from pigs on the wing". The tenth studio album by Pink Floyd, Animals, was a landmark conceptual remark on social and political division through the lens of dogs, pig and sheep.

Animals was Pink Floyd's first recording in their own studio -- Britannia Row.

The album's cover featured a flying pig over London's Battersea Power Station. A 40 foot inflated pig named Algie was originally used for the photo, but the pig broke loose, causing grounded airplanes and panic across the city.
