Acclaimed American folk guitarist Elizabeth Cotten hadn’t played for over three decades until, by chance, she began working as housekeeper for the famed Seeger family of folk singers & musicologists. Inspired to resume playing, Cotten went on to win a Grammy in 1986, received a National Heritage Fellowship & in 2022 was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.

The Star Club in Hamburg was a gritty little music joint that became legendary for hosting early shows by The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and numerous other rock ’n’ roll greats. Packed with wild energy, cigarette smoke & raw sound, it was the place where a big chunk of rock history got its start.
