Rickie Lee Jones’ 1979 song “Chuck E’s in Love” was singing about Chuck E. Weiss, the same person Tom Waits name-checks in several songs including “Jitterbug Boy” & “Wish I Was In New Orleans”. All three lived at L.A.’s Tropicana Motel in the early 1970s.

There's little doubt that rock n roll was born with Memphis' Sun Records in the mid-1950s. Sam Phillips started recording the blues, and captured the voices of new talent from the area, like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. The rest was rockabilly history. This band shirt design features the famous yellow Sun Records logo, and it says "Where Rock n Roll was Born" and the year of Sun's founding, 1952. The bottom reads "Memphis, Tennessee".
