It was the biggest show to happen to Tupelo, ever. Elvis Presley was coming back home.

After being born to humble beginnings in a tiny shack in the small Mississippi town, the singer became a worldwide sensation the likes of which had never been seen before. And now Tupelo was welcoming Elvis back home with open arms for two shows, one night only.

The air on September 26th, 1956 was electric. Elvis would again play the same fair that he first performed at when he was just ten years old. He was joined by his parents, and the mayor gave him a key to the city. In photos, a fourteen year old Tammy Wynette can be seen in the front row.
