A very young James Brown used to shine shoes & dance for troops for money in Georgia’s Fort Gordon. Coincidentally, blues guitarist Howlin’ Wolf was serving in the Army at that same fort, and the future Godfather of Soul was inspired to pick up a guitar by watching Wolf play every day.

This is a Bluescentric Brand official Monterey Pop Festival Racerback Tank, available in women's sizes up to 2XL. The material is a premium fabric-laundered 4.2oz triblend 50/25/25 polyester/combed ringspun cotton/rayon racerback tee.

It was the hottest ticket of 1967 -- June 16, 17 and 18 at the Monterey County Fairgrounds featured performances by Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, The Grateful Dead, The Butterfield Blues Band, Booker T and the MGs, and The Who's first-ever U.S. performance, where Pete Townshend smashed his guitar in a famous finalé.

It was also Jimi Hendrix's U.S. debut, so not to be outdone, he set fire to his own guitar "as a sacrifice".

MPOP would be the blueprint for nearly all music festivals that came after, including Woodstock two years later.
