Born Chester Arthur Burnett in White Station, Mississippi, the blues guitarist earned the nickname Howling Wolf for his strong, imposing presence and infectiously rough vocals. Found by Sun Records owner Sam Phillips, who called Wolf his greatest discovery, Howlin Wolf moved to Chicago’s Chess Records, where he helped found Chicago Blues and give birth to Rock n Roll.
