Bob Dylan has named songs after at least three bluesmen — Blind Willie McTell, Charley Patton and Jimmy Reed.

According to blues legend Bessie Smith’s son, when a car dealer snidely told her there was ‘no way a negro woman could afford a Cadillac’, she went to her bank, withdrew enough money to buy a house, threw it in the salesman’s face, told him to ‘f___ himself’ and drove away in the car.
