Louis Armstrong heard about a 16 year old Hugh Masekela’s penchant for music and mailed the young man his trumpet. Masekela would go on to become the celebrated father of South African Jazz.

At one point early in the band’s existence, Pink Floyd was known as “The Screaming Abdabs”.

The Rolling Stones’ sax player Bobby Keys, Outlaw Country legend Waylon Jennings, and Rock & Roll originator Buddy Holly all lived in the same neighborhood in Lubbock, Texas & were friends before each was famous. Jennings & Keys both played with Holly’s backing band The Crickets (though Keys did after Holly’s death).
