The phrase “heavy metal thunder” in Steppenwolf’s 1968 hit “Born to Be Wild” is one of the earliest uses of the term “heavy metal” in a musical context — predating the musical genre itself by about two years.

Blues guitarist Furry Lewis had a cameo in the 1975 Burt Reynolds movie “W.W. and the Dixie Dancekings”.
