The phrase “heavy metal thunder” in Steppenwolf’s 1968 hit “Born to Be Wild” is one of the earliest uses of the term “heavy metal” in a musical context — predating the musical genre itself by about two years.

Both Creedence Clearwater Revival and The Grateful Dead played Woodstock Festival but declined to be in the movie, because both bands disliked their performances that night.
