The Beach Boys’ “Surfin’ U.S.A.” was nearly a note-for-note copy of Chuck Berry’s “Sweet Little Sixteen”. Chuck reportedly did enjoy the song, and eventually got a songwriting credit for it.

British musician Mark Knopfler wrote Tina Turner’s famous hit song “Private Dancer”.
