Stax Records decided to exclusively record Stax artists in 1966, just before Atlantic Records could send down their newest artist — a young Aretha Franklin.

Despite being a massive hit, the 1959 Barrett Strong/Berry Gordy song “MONEY (THAT’S WHAT I WANT)” featured “two white kids walking home from high school” who heard the music from Detroit’s Hitsville & asked to play along. They were never identified.
