John Lennon was scheduled to be in the studio when Tom Petty was recording 1981’s Hard Promises, but was murdered before he could arrive. The album’s first pressings had the the phrase “WE LOVE YOU J.L.” etched into the run-out groove.

FAME Studios, responsible for that soulful “Muscle Shoals Sound”, was founded in 1959 and is still producing hits.
