Levon Helm’s first musical endeavor post-The Band was to form a short-lived musical group called The RCO All-Stars, which included Dr. John, Booker T Jones, Chuck Berry, Paul Butterfield, and the Stax / Blues Brothers’ members Steve Cropper, Duck Dunn, Tom Malone Lou Marini and Alan Rubin… among others.

George Clinton of Parliament Funkadelic fame was a staff writer at Motown in the 1960s.
