Bluebird Records was founded in 1932, recording the likes of Sonny Boy Williamson, Glen Miller and Big Bill Broonzy before closing some time after WWII.

In 1929, W.C. Handy & Bessie Smith made a glamorous premier of their movie “St. Louis Blues” with red carpet & limousines in Memphis, Tennessee, on Beale Street at The Daisy Theater — an establishment which stands to this day.
