Queen guitarist Brian May was a teenager when he and his father built a guitar from an old fireplace mantle & a table. Named Red Special, May used this guitar almost exclusively throughout the band’s existence.

In 1929, W.C. Handy & Bessie Smith made a glamorous premier of their movie “St. Louis Blues” with red carpet & limousines in Memphis, Tennessee, on Beale Street at The Daisy Theater — an establishment which stands to this day.
