The now-legendary concert festival ZAIRE ’74, held before the RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE between Ali & Foreman, was conceived by trumpeter Hugh Masekela and record producer Stewart Levine.

In 1965, TV show Shindig! snagged The Rolling Stones’ coveted first American television performance — but the Stones would only play if Howlin’ Wolf opened for them.
