American Jazz trumpeter Lester Bowie was the namesake of David Bowie’s 1993 song “Looking for Lester” — which Lester also played on. The two Bowies are not related; David’s birth name was Jones.

Marvin Gaye sang the national anthem for the World Series between the Detroit Tigers and the St. Louis Cardinals on October 6, 1968 at Tiger Stadium in Detroit, Michigan. The Cardinals won.
