The cover art of The Band’s The Basement Tapes was taken by photographer Reid Miles in the basement of an L.A. YMCA, with the band positioned among circus sideshow acts & colorful characters.

No major studio would finance the movie about Ray Charles’ life, and $40 million had to be independently raised to make it. “Ray” went on to gross over $124,000,000.
