While still a somewhat unknown musician in Lubbock, Texas, Buddy Holly attracted two young men to his orbit: future country music star Waylon Jennings and future Rolling Stones’ saxophonist Bobby Keys.

The Allman Brothers Band’s “Statesboro Blues” is a Blind Willie McTell cover. Statesboro is down the road from Macon, where the band lived.

Jennings & Keys both played with Holly’s backing band The Crickets (though Keys did after Holly’s death).
