While a struggling songwriter in 1969, former Vietnam War helicopter pilot Kris Kristofferson landed a National Guard chopper on Johnny Cash’s lawn to personally deliver a demo of his music. The stunt worked, and Cash’s cover of “Sunday Morning Coming Down” became a #1 hit in 1970.

The Beatles’ famous 1969 song “Come Together” borrowed heavily from Chuck Berry’s 1956 “You Can’t Catch Me”, including the famed line “Here come ol’ flattop”.
