Both albums, “King Curtis Live At Fillmore West” and “Aretha Franklin Live At Fillmore West” were recorded on the same dates, March 5th, 6th and 7th, 1971 with the same backing band — King Curtis’ The Kingpins and The Memphis Horns.

The lightning strike behind the band on the cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s first album “(Pronounced ‘Lĕh-‘nérd ‘Skin-‘nérd)” is real.
