“La Bamba” legend Ritchie Valens was terrified of flying after a mid-air collision over his grade school killed his best friend, and he vowed never to fly. But in 1959, Valens reluctantly boarded a flight with Buddy Holly that crashed and killed them both.

The Rolling Stones’ Brian Jones owned, and within eight months died at the Cotchford Farm estate in Hartfield, East Sussex, UK, where A.A. Milne created Winnie-the-Pooh.
