In 1955, Bo Diddley made his first single for Checker Records, A side: “I’m A Man”, B Side: “Bo Diddley.” Both sides were huge hits.

The Rolling Stones’ producer Jimmy Miller played the distinctive cowbell on the band’s 1969 track “Honky Tonk Woman”.
