According to Janis Joplin’s wishes, friends chartered a boat off the coast of Marin County, California, and spread her ashes in the ocean after her death in 1970.

While shooting the cover of Pink Floyd’s “Animals”, the floating pig broke loose, grounding airplanes and baffling London before landing about 40 miles away. They ultimately spliced the pig into the cover photo.
