Official Bob Dylan and The Band t-shirt, featuring The Basement Tapes with a slight distress around the edges. Every sale benefits the band!
This Bluescentric Brand Bob Dylan and The Band t-shirt comes in classic heavy 100% preshrunk cotton sizes S-5XL. Heather colors are 50/50. Sizes run very true, and have minimal, if any, shrinking. This is a standard go-to t shirt.
It was 1967 and Bob Dylan had retreated to Woodstock, New York to recover from a motorcycle accident that left him unable to perform.
His backing band The Hawks (soon to be known as The Band) rented a pink house nicknamed "Big Pink" nearby, and the group spent months casually playing rootsy music together in the basement. Between covers, originals & folk standards, few traditional songs were left out.
It would be eight more years before Columbia Records finally releases The Basement Tapes in 1975.
While the album cover pictured on this shirt clearly shows a basement, it was actually an L.A. YMCA, where the artists dressed up in various garments, and were playfully posed around circus sideshow acts and colorful characters.
