Willie Nelson and Wynton Marsalis performed a duet set together at The Lincoln Center in New York City, which would become the 2008 album “Two Men with the Blues”.

This design features an old Herwin Records "Electronically Recorded" logo for a Cannon Jug Stompers Memphis classic.

Herwin Records was founded in 1924 in Saint Louis, and spread blues music across the midwest.

Born sometime in the 19th century Mississippi, Gus Cannon found his way to Memphis, where he assembled an all-star band & began playing in the area. He and his band incorporated interesting instruments, including the kazoo and of course, Jugs.

The music they recorded in the late 1920s continues today to influence generations of artists: The Grateful Dead considered Cannon a huge influence, and contemporary acts like The Carolina Chocolate Drops still feel the effects of his music.

While Cannon struggled with poverty for decades, in 1964 The Rooftop Singers had a massive hit with their cover of Cannon's iconic song "Walk Right In", propelling the artist and the Jug Stompers into a whole new second act. Shortly after, they made an album for Stax Records featuring new recordings of their traditional hits.
