Official David Bowie.

It was the YEAR OF THE DIAMOND DOG tour -- a pivotal moment for Bowie. Kicking off mid-June 1974 and rolling through most of that year. After a massively-ambitious rock opera stage show proved too much to bear, Bowie & Co performed the last half of the tour with a stripped down style, dubbed The Soul Tour.

The famed DAVID LIVE album, bowies first live release, was recorded on this tour (in Philadelphia), and nearly four decades later in 2020, a second live album was released from a different show, I'm Only Dancing (The Soul Tour 74), which hit #12 on the chart.

It was during this tour that Bowie began working on his new album, which would turn into YOUNG AMERICANS.
