Where Charlie Parker got the name “Bird” is a mystery — In one famed story from The Reno Club in Kansas City, Drummer Jo Jones (no relation to “Philly” Jo Jones) threw a cymbal at teenage Charlie Parker’s feet when he poorly improvised a saxophone solo in the wrong key, causing him to fly like a bird.

This t-shirt features the St Louis Arch in piano style and a Fleur De Lis, part of the city's flag & a nod to its french heritage. The W.C. Handy song that memorialized Saint Louis dates back to 1914, covered by all the greats including Louis Armstrong, Cab Calloway, Bing Crosby, Bessie Smith, Eartha Kitt, Count Basie, Glen Miller, Bessie Smith, and many more.
