A man named Robert Petway first recorded the famous song “Catfish Blues” during one of just two recording sessions for Bluebird Records, and then disappeared, never to be heard from or found again.

Every sale benefits Parker's estate!

This is a Bluescentric Brand authentic Charlie Parker long sleeve t-shirt, available in sizes up to 5XL and several colors, the material is 6oz pre-shrunk 100% heavy cotton (athletic heather 99%) with long sleeves, double-needle sleeve and bottom hem, and a side seam.

When Charlie Parker returned to his Kansas City hometown on a hot July week in 1952, he returned home a big star.

With a saxophone in hand, Parker had become the music pioneer, mentoring practically every emerging jazz giant -- Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Max Roach and many others.

The El Capitan was the beating heart of 18th & Vine, placed right on the corner of the famed Jazz District's namesake crossroads, and there was no more fitting place for Parker to make his triumphant return.

A one week engagement quickly became too popular, and so a matinee was added, and then a whole second week.

The legendary residency would prove to be a high water mark between the saxophone legend & the city that raised him; KC would would have precious few chances to experience Charlie Parker's genius again.
