“By the year 2006 the music known today as the blues will exist only in the classical records department in your local public library. So tonight, ladies and gentlemen while we still can let us welcome from Rock Island, Illinois, the blues music from Elliot Jake and Elwood Blues, The Blues Brothers” – Opening of The Blues Brothers’ Briefcase Full of Blues

This extra comfortable Bluescentric Brand Janis Joplin sweatshirt is 8.5oz 80/20 cotton/polyester blend, with 100% cotton face (20 singles face yarn). It features a 1x1 ribbing at collar, cuffs and waistband, a tear-away label, and split stitch double needle sewing on all seams. The fit is very standard.

This design comes from the original concert poster, and shows Janis' name, the date and time of the show, and "Madison Square Garden" on the bottom.

On December 19th, 1969, Janis Joplin reached a pinnacle of success when she performed at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The Paul Butterfield Blues Band opened for her.

Janis played some of her hits with the Kozmic Blues Band, including Ball & Chain and Bobby McGee, but there is some disagreement about the complete setlist.

But as fate would have it, she'd already graced the Garden stage in an impromptu performance a little less than a month before... Janis had been in town to play The Fillmore and snuck out to see Tina Turner and The Rolling Stones. When Tina noticed Joplin side-stage, she asked the young blues singer up to sing a song together.
