King, accompanied by Medgar Evers’ brother Charles, gave a prison performance on June 8th, 1983 for the inmates at the notorious Parchman Farm in the Mississippi Delta — about 35 miles from King’s childhood home. The next day, he would be the guest of honor in his Indianola, Mississippi hometown for the third annual B.B. King Homecoming Festival.
